A CUP application can take up to 45-60 days, which involves hearings at the following levels:

  1. Town of Menasha Planning Commission – typically the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. (Town Municipal Complex). The Planning Commission makes a recommendation on the CUP proposal.

  1. Town of Menasha, Town Board of Supervisors – typically the 4th Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (Town Municipal Complex).  The Town Board makes a decision on the CUP and may or may not accept the recommendation of the Town Planning Commission. This decision is then forwarded on to Winnebago County.

  1. Winnebago County Planning & Zoning Committee – typically the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. (County Courthouse). The P&Z Committee reviews the rezoning at this public hearing.

  1. Winnebago County Board – typically the third Tuesday of the month after the P&Z public hearing. By Winnebago County Ordinance, if the Town Board of Supervisors denies the CUP, then the County Board will deny it. On the other hand, if the Town Board approves a CUP, the County Board may still deny it or approve it with additional conditions.
